Celebrate every small success

When we around kids, we naturally want to celebrate every small success they have. (thats what I usually do).  Some people might think its not that of a big deal but that small celebrations really boosts the little ones confidence. If you and your child are kicking ball and the ball doesn't reach you, celebrate his/her big kick with a high-five (even though we know it was just a tiny baby kick). If he/she run around laughing and smiling, let them know what a fast runner he/she is.

As we grow up, do we reach a certain age where we don't need extra encouragement anymore? Of course not. Do we turn 18 or 21 and suddenly have 100% confidence in everything we do?  I wish!  We dont need to wait untill we fully achieve our biggest dreams to celebrate the progress we made. I'm encouraging you to celebrate your own small success.

Stayed within your budget today? Celebrate.
Exercised two days in a row? Celebrate.
Woke up this morning without hitting the snooze button? Celebrate.

And for me today I am excited to celebrate a small success together with everyone who had a part in it. We reached 25% of the funds needed to take 10 young men to the Karoo Mighty Men Conference 24 - 26 April 2015.

No need to pop a bottle of champagne everytime. Just give yourself a mental high-five, throw yourself a dance party, or brag to your best friend. This leads to momentum, which leads to more small success. And several small successes adds up to a BIG success.

I'd love to know - what was the success you celebrated or going to celebrate today? Share and celebrate in the comments below.

So today I'm asking you to join your heart and hands with Jill and myself to make it possible to achieve our goal of taken the 10 young men to the Karoo Mighty Men Conference.

Genesis 43: 22 - 23  "and we have brought other money down with us to buy food. we do not know who put the money in our sacks." He replied, "Peace to you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has put treasure in  your sacks for you. I received your money." Then he brought Simeon out to them.

Karoo Mighty Men Conference

Good Day All.

I know its been a while since my last post update.

Starting out this year Jill and I together with Elim CARE successfully hosted a Mass Renewal of Vows at our church Elim Assembly of God, as you have seen in my last post. I just feel like I need to do more.

Since yesterday (Sunday 22 February 2015) I'm having this urge to do my utmost best to attend the Karoo Mighty Men Conference which will be held 24 - 26 April 2015 by Angus Buchan. I want to take with 10 young men from our church to experience this conference but I need your help. Please would you be so generous and partner with me and make it possible. Im trying to raise enough funds to cover all the travel, accomodation and food expenses for 10 young men. I just know that it will be an blessed experience for me and the young men.

We are extremely excited about KMMC 2015 and encourage you to join hands with us to make attending this awesome God-event possible.

Mark 2: 2 - 5  And many were gathered together , so that there was no room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made the opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

Mass Renewal of Marriage Vows

I had a fantastic Valentine's weekend with my beautiful wife and 16 other couples. We renewed our marriage vows at our church, Elim Assembly of God. The event was arranged by the Eim CARE ministry and what a blessed experience it has been.

On Saturday the 14 Feb 2015 we attended a 3 hour workshop and below are a few things I have learnt

  • Make Love ..... a verb (not make love alot). It should be a everyday doing thing.
  • You should always make decisions as if you partner is more important than you.
  • Treat your partner with respect.
  • Humble yourself, submit to one another,
  • Don't be disrespectful to your partner.
  • Value him or her.
  • Make an effort to become interested in the things your partner likes.
The renewal took place on Sunday 15 Feb 2015.
I pray that we all would stay married and in love forever. IT IS POSSIBLE!!!
The cross in the pictures below simbolises that God is the centre of our marriages.
In Ecclesiastes 4:12 it is said that "a threefold cord (God, Husband and Wife) is not quickly/easily broken".

The following is all the couples who shared this experience with us.

Philippians 2: 3-8  Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interest of others. Have this in mind amongst yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross.

Happiness keeps you sweet

Stay away from Anger...It hurts...Only You!
If you are right then theres no need to get angry.
And if you are wrong then you dont have any right to get angry.

Patience with family is Love.
Patience with others is Respect.
Patience with yourself is Confidence and..
Patience with God is Peace.

Never think to hard about the PAST, it brings TEARS.
Dont think more about the FUTURE, it brings FEAR.
Live this moment with a SMILE, it brings CHEER.

Every test in our life makes us bitter or better.
Every problem comes to make us or break us.
The choice is ours whether we become victims or victorious.
Beautiful things are not always good but good things are always beautiful.

Do you know why God created gaps between our fingers?
So that someone who is special to you comes and fills those gaps by holding your hand forever.

Happiness keeps you sweet...but being sweet brings happiness.

Please do share with all the beautiful people in your life.

Trapped in the bathroom

So here I am minding my own business in the bathroom and upon my time of exit the key decided that it had enough of the abuse (locking and unlocking) and it snapped. Here I'm standing in the bathroom with no way out. The window is fitted with burglar bars and no spare key to open the door (please wipe that smile off your faces). Luckily we have a nanny, if we didnt I would only have one option "break down the door".

So now I had to tap into my McGuyver skills. Got the nanny to pass me a pliers threw the bathroom window after she stopped laughing at me for being trapped in the bathroom. Clamping the rest of the key thats left in the door with the pliers I managed to get the door open.

Solution to a situation like this:

  • Keep the folowing in the medicine cupboard or somewhere in the bathroom
  • Spare key
  • Pliers
Here's some pictures of the traumatic event

James 4:11  Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.  The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law.  But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

SA'S NEW SUPERMINI

Volkswagen .... UP!

Volkswagen moves on up! In SA

Volkswagen has joined the brigade of super-small cars. Meet the VW up! It's just arrived in South Africa.

Move over Mercedes' li'l Smart, there's a new baby car in town! Volkswagen's up! Is full of charisma with potential to become the leader of A00 segment, says the automaker. The up!, launching in Cape Town this week - made its global debut in 2011 and will be introduced below Volkswagen's Polo Vivo and Polo, which have been the top two best-selling passenger models in South Africa since 2010.

The up! is powered by one-litre three-cylinder, quad-valve petrol engine. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Standstill to 100km/h takes 13.2sec and top speed is 171km/h. General fuel consumption is listed as 4.7 litres/100km while emitting 108g/km of CO2.

The up! is available in two trim levels: Take up! and Move up! Each is competitively priced and offers a high level of standard equipment. A raft of safety features is standard. At 3.54m long, 1.64m wide and 1.48m tall, the up! is one of the world's smallest four-seater cars. Its overall length consists of short body overhangs and a long wheelbase of 2.42m; turning circle 9.8m.

However, the four-seater has one of the longest wheelbases in the segment, along with the engine mounted forward, making loads of space available inside the car. Something the original Mini started 50 years ago. The 251-litre boot is also significantly larger than is typical in this class. When the rear seat is fully folded, cargo space increases to 951 litres.
Volkswagen up! is sold with a three-year or 120 000km warranty, a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty and 15 000km service intervals.

Devolution of Eskom

The Devolution of Esk’dom…. sorry I meant Eskom

Let me introduce to you the CEO of Eks’dom ( use to be called Eskom when they were supplying electricity and not blackouts)

Tshediso Matona
I bet you they just took one look at his name and knew he was the man for the job.

Eks’dom's mission statement
We don’t always supply you with electricity but if we do, we ask you to please not use it.  Keeping S.A  in the dark ages.  This is South Africa. Like us on Facebook

Eks’dom has just completed their latest power station. It’s called…. N’candle

No need to worry Ek’sdom say they have a solution!  The Ultimate Energy Saving Light bulb

Some interesting / shocking facts about Ek’sdom
In 1991 they generated 42.0GW Electricity with 27500 employees.
In 2013 they generated 38.0GW Electricity with 46900 employees. (A blind person in the dark can see the wrong trend with these figures)
Many RDP housing townships do not have to pay for electricity and also most don’t have load shedding whether the electricity is free or not.
South Africa keeps supplying Botswana, Namibia and other neighboring countries with electricity and there is never load shedding.

One day this will be a question in the School Curriculum
Question:  What did South Africa use before candles?
Answer: Electricity

I predict a huge spike in 2016 child births due to this load shedding.
I would like to quote Heinrich Brown “These candles bring mood in the bedroom like Viagra can’t”

My Love Triangle

We’ll there’s less than two weeks left until Valentine’s Day. It will be my 7th Valentine’s Day with my wife.  I’m looking forward to it because we going to renew of wedding vows. (I’m really excited. I feel like a kid counting down the days to my birthday)

Without any doubt she is the better half of our marriage; more patient, more selfless and more giving.  In reflecting this time of the year when romantic love is celebrated, I thought I’d share my understanding of how our Saviour strengthens our marriage.

So often I hear couples saying that “I live for my children”.  I personally don’t agree with this statement.  I feel it should be, you live for God, you live for your spouse and then you live for your children.  We need to love God first because He first loved us and He still loves us unconditionally.

The triangle (in the picture above) shows our marriage covenant and relationship to Christ.  While the covenant is intended to bind together a husband and wife eternally, the direction of the arrow from both the husband and the wife go to our Saviour Jesus Christ.  As we get nearer to Him, so we also grow closer together as husband and wife. As husband and wife we should work together to become one with our Saviour, so that we can become one with each other.

So as another Valentine’s Day draws near, I hope that together my wife and I are nearer to our Saviour; and that our journey towards Him will strengthen our marriage and this bond will continue throughout eternity.
